We kept seeing signs along Hwy 89A for the hatchery and thought it would be fun. We read that there is a self guided tour that takes about 30 minutes to complete. It begins with a large show pond of adult trout, and you can pay 25 cents for fish food to feed them with. From there you see the concrete trout runs where the smaller fish are still developing. The small visitor’s center has a lot of information about the hatchery and the work that they do, and you can also have a picnic in the shaded area with tables. This is a free tour, so definitely worth stopping at on your way to wine tasting.
