One of the most beautiful drives in North America is the Icefield Parkway from Banff National Park to Jasper National Park. It was an easy drive in an RV and if we didn’t stop it would have only taken us about 3 hours.
The day before we went to Herbert Lake to check out the most amazing reflection lake that was supposed to be out there. It ended up being windy and cold so we were hoping that today would be clear. There was space to park the truck and the rig and we walked a very short path and in the clearing was this… Success!
As you drive further North, you hit bow lake. Another beautiful lake that has glaciers behind it. On a non windy day it is a beautiful hike from the resort on the lake.
As soon as you cross over to Jasper National Park you hit Columbia Ice Field. You can walk to the ice field and walk on it, dry camp in the parking lot and visit the restaurant and gift shop there.
Again I neglected to take pictures of the drive. So you will just have to drive it yourself and see it!
It was nice being able to take our time on the drive and stop when we wanted to. The next stop before our campground was Sunwapta Falls. Incredible. There are a couple hikes that leave from the parking lot so you have options. Again we were able to park our rig there.
We are hoping to get back very soon!!
I am coming with next time!!

Great to know that parking large RVs at these stops weren’t a problem. Beautiful places indeed.
